Singular Perturbations of Complex Polynomials

In this paper we describe the dynamics of singularly perturbed complex polynomials. That is, we start with a complex polynomial whose dynamics are well understood. Then we perturb this map by adding a pole, i.e., by adding in a term of the form λ/(z − a)d where the parameter λ is complex. This changes the polynomial into a rational map of higher degree and, as we shall see, the dynamical behavi...

Sierpinski-curve Julia sets and singular perturbations of complex polynomials

In this paper we consider the family of rational maps of the complex plane given by z2 + λ z2 where λ is a complex parameter. We regard this family as a singular perturbation of the simple function z2. We show that, in any neighborhood of the origin in the parameter plane, there are infinitely many open sets of parameters for which the Julia sets of the correspondingmaps are Sierpinski curves. ...

Real perturbations of complex polynomials

In this article the dynamics of generic Cr (r ≥ 3) perturbations of complex polynomials are considered. The attention is focused on the determination of the existence of large or invariant components of the complement of the basin of ∞, where the interesting dynamics occur.

Singular Perturbations in Option Pricing

After the celebrated Black-Scholes formula for pricing call options under constant volatility, the need for more general nonconstant volatility models in financial mathematics has been the motivation of numerous works during the Eighties and Nineties. In particular, a lot of attention has been paid to stochastic volatility models where the volatility is randomly fluctuating driven by an additio...

Nearest Singular Polynomials

The nearest singular polynomials to a given polynomial have been studied in [1], based on minimization of quadratic forms. An equivalent expression of the quadratic form is presented. It leads to a simple equation satisfied by the double zeros of the nearest singular polynomials. The amount of computational work is economized.
